OK, sure it's likely a 'manufactured' holiday from Hallmark or some other greeting card company, but hey...I like it! Why not celebrate love and romance. Could that really be dangerous? ( I'm sorry our society has been damaged by too much emphasis on love)....I don't think so. Of course I'm talking about actual true, real love...Commitment, promise. Seems like too few people understand, or even want to understand what real love actually is. We all seem so satisfied with the imitation. Lust. Lust is such a psuedo-emotion. I 'love' you for what you do for me...for what you do for me today...so changeable...so fickle. I 'love' you today...who knows if I will tomorrow.
True love, REAL love is a promise. It's not based on the recipient, it's based on the giver. I love you..it's a promise...no matter what you do or don't do...I love you....means I want the Best for you...no matter what it costs me.....convenient, inconvenient....happy or sad, messy or neat and clean. I love you....REGARDLESS of emotion...it's a promise, a commitment. But God in His mercy in a committed relationship blesses us with the 'icing and sprinkles' on the cake of our lives.
I appreciate the Romance in life and love as well. Rejoicing in the amazing beauty of this world God has blessed us with. Not discounting the darkness, the sickness, the sadness and evil in the world....it's God's mercy and grace int eh midst of all these complications...the splashes of beauty, punctuating the hum-drum, the every day, and the bone crushing hardness in life that always takes me breathe away.
More in this theme later as the business of this mom's life permits
